Airport shuttle ends free rides

Users of the capital’s airport shuttle service will no longer enjoy free rides, with Royal Railway announcing last week that riders will have to buy tickets at a cost of $2.5 for a one-way trip. To encourage passengers to use the new line, Royal Railway decided to offer free-of-charge rides for the first few months of operation.

 

However, as of Nov 9, riders have to pay $2.5 for one-way tickets. The airport shuttle was launched in April, connecting Phnom Penh’s central railway station to the city’s international airport and taking around 120 minutes to complete a round trip.

 

Royal Railways is still waiting on a shipment of double-headed train carriages from Mexico that were initially scheduled to arrive in July. According to a recent post in the company’s Facebook page, the three carriages – which will be used to replace the existing passenger cars – will arrive later this month.
