webfact
EC sets limits on election spending for and parties The Election Commission has agreed to set a limit of individual election spending of candidates at two million baht each and 70 million baht for political parties. A well-informed source in the EC said that details of the poll spending by both individual candidates and parties are included in a regulation to be submitted to the EC board for finalization before being presented to parties at a joint meeting with the EC on Wednesday. Regarding the election spending for each party, the source said the EC has set the limit in accordance with the number of candidates that each party has decided to field based on the ground rule of 10 million baht maximum for 50 candidates. Whereas for the last twelve months or more the junta and it's political supporters have had the benefit of a bottomless pit of taxpayer money with which to buy populism and votes. Not to mention that PTP's decision to do so followed pro-military political parties announcement to do so. In effect the EC's election spending rules won't apply to the medium and large parties. The small parties stand to suffer the greatest financing constraints. That would be ironic as the new MMA electoral system was designed in part to give small parties more seats than in previous elections.

yellowboat
EC is showing its lack of impartiality without setting any limits on the junta government which is being lead by a self confessed politician. This military government has no check or balance, no duty to the people as they were NOT elected. Election monitors are needed at this very moment.
