Hi lovely people, hope you can assist me. As my old passport runs out in Jan 2027, I applied and received a new one that expires 2036. I went to Chomburi immigration yesterday to have my retirement visa transferred from old passport to new. My old passport included my visa ending April 2027, but they shortened if to jan2027, when my old passport expired. Is this correct ? I would have thought the visa would carry to its expiry date and onto my new passport. 😳 many thanks

Yes it's correct

Your extension should never have been until April 2027. It should have been issued until the expiry date of your passport. Sounds like they have basically corrected their earlier error, although it's arguable if that was really necessary or just an excuse to irritate a customer.

Correct and happened to me last time.

July was my visa anniversary. Passport expired in May, so the visa was only extended to May the following year.

When new passport arrived, the great IO transferred everything neatly for me. It's supposed to be transferred for free, but I always give them an very nice tip.

Meaning that you encourage immigration officers to go for tips. Then folks complain about corruption in immigation...
