BANGKOK, 18th December 2018 (NNT) – The Prime Minister says he is very pleased that an average of 70,000 people have been using the Bearing-Samut Prakan Green Line Skytrain extension daily, confirming his government’s desire to develop the nation’s transport systems further.

Deputy Secretary General to the Prime Minister for Politics Puthipong Punakan , acting as Spokesperson of the Prime Minister’s Office, disclosed today that Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-ocha had voiced great satisfaction with commuter numbers on the Bearing-Samut Prakan Green Line train extension.

The line was opened on December 6 for a four month trial run and has already achieved a daily average of 70,000 travelers. The PM reportedly remarked that the high number shows the public sees the importance of transport connections.

Puthipong relayed to the public that the Prime Minister and his administration are working to have development projects run smoothly so that they may result in real national change, and is focusing particularly on basic transport infrastructure projects to cut down on congestion and serve the public.

The PM underlined that over the past four years the government has seen two Skytrain extensions begin service; the Bang Yai-Tao Poon Purple Line, which averages 60,000 users each day, and the Bearing-Samut Prakan Green Line. Lines pending include the yellow, orange and pink lines.

It really doesn't compute in English...

Here is  another go..

"Thailand's non-elected uniformed leader is very pleased with  empty train."

No PM in Thailand is elected in office!

Don't you think the train is empty because the VIP's are there to "open" the line?

In the last four years many infra projects were opened or started, that will help to bring transport costs down, probably will help battle traffic congestion, while bringing thousands of jobs.

A veritable difference with the former governments that brought Thailand to a standstill.

I am not in favour of military takeovers, but what would have happened with Thailand if it hadn't be done?

A civil war, maybe.

The situation was very near to it.

Maybe you remember?

I'm sorry, did the former government not implement both the bts and mrt?

And how will those new jobs stack up. Against the relocation of 10s of thousands of vendors and the like who were relocated out of their incomes.

You may have your civil war yet. Unrest however seems more likely.

70,000 a day on average because it’s free. Will it be 70k a day when they all have to pay from April onwards?!

What about adding more carriages to use the full length of the platform?

Or maybe managing the location of the trains? Yesterday I watched 3 trains back to back going in the opposite direction. My side had nothing for 12-15mins. London buses can blame it on the traffic, what’s the BTS’ excuse?
