BANGKOK, 26 December 2018 (NNT) - Various members of Thailand's current administration have come out in defense of the leadership and character of the incumbent premier, following a social media posting by a prominent politician detailing the reasons why he believes Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha should not continue as Prime Minister.

M.R. Pridiyathorn Devakula, who had previously served as Deputy Prime Minister for economic affairs under the current administration, posted eight reasons why Gen Prayut should step down.

In response, Interior Minister Gen Anupong Paochinda said that he has known Gen Prayut for over 40 years and had previously served under him in the Royal Thai Army. He praised the premier as a capable and determined leader.

Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwan said M.R. Pridiyathorn had expressed his personal opinion, which do not warrant further discussion or investigation.

Gen Prayut said he disputes the assertions made by M.R. Pridiyathorn, but cautioned against news coverage of sensitive topics that may impact economic confidence in the country.

Of course they do...

Now dragging out the old and well-familiar "sensitive topics" threat....

I bet he has been visited or intimidated. Let's hope all the non likers of those junta guys and their regime come out in droves to make a stand.

From the Thai language posts and replies I have seen on Twitter and comments on Facebook posts, Thai people seem to be starting to speak out once again. Much more negative than positive, but then that could be just the posters I follow. But even the press is more negative now. Hope PM Fickwut gets the message.

M.R. Pridiyathorn is after revenge. He is no longer in love with PM Fickwut. You can be sure that if there had been a more friendly parting of ways and a mutual agreement that they could start dating others, this M. R. would not have come out with this blistering put down. Regardless, he has raised some very good and valid points.

There is confidence in the future of Thailand ?  Was not aware of that.  There is confidence in junta handouts, according to the news.  cha cha being sent back to barracks would be a good start in restoring confidence.

Yes, defend your General. Good boys. Woof.

However, none of the good old boys have addressed any of the eight points against Prayut specifically. They just come out with their very own unique reasons why he should stay: "I follow him and do as he says, because he smells good... In the morning."

I think I disagree, if Mr Fickwut gets wind of a looming rebellion, he'll ramp up the intimidation and manipulation. best to remain qiet and give the tosser an unwelcome surprise come counting time (with lots of foreign observers present).

Yes, Pridyathorn is after revenge but then the only reason he got a job in government in the first place is because Prem said so - his name is important., he himself was never competent to do anything except rolex up anything he claps eyes on. Still, beggars can't be choosers, the enemy of your enemy etc etc.

Still, he did wax exceeding lyrical and amusing on this occasion, so credit where it's due. Sadly, very few will listen to the demented old frog so 'twill likely all be in vain.

"incumbent" - funny

The correct term is "junta leader."

More appropriate and distinguished might be: Field Marshal

A military-like patriarchal appeal to it.

Read Thak Chaloemtiarana's 1979 tome, you'll get a better understanding.

would someone please post the 8 point criticism.  Thank you.

I wonder who gave M.R a prod to release these comments.......

Could be some readjustment coming his way for comments made ! In Australia yes men would be known as suckholes or arse lickers seems some have learned something from farangs

Trough insurance
