Three year old gets her hand caught in pipe at "newly built" housing estate pool

A family suffered an agonizing two hours after a three year old girl got her hand caught in a suction pipe at a new swimming pool.

 

Poh Teck Tung foundation rescue were called to the pool in Bang Plee, Samut Prakarn and found the father of Tukky supporting the child who was in floods of tears. 

 

They tried various lubrication methods before decided to bring in heavy equipment to drill out the pipe by the edge of the pool and cut the pipe itself. 

 

The girl was then freed and taken to a local hospital. It took two hours before they were successful.

 

The mother of the victim said they had only just moved into the newly built estate. They went to the pool with their other children and were horrified when their youngest got stuck during a power outage.

 

There was no protective grill at the location of the pipe.

The pressure testing of waterlines is a foreign concept.  Better to embed the pipes before turning on the water.
