Office of Narcotics Control Board secretary-general Niyom Termsrisuk walks reporters through the measures taken with illegal drugs confiscated by police, during a demonstration at the agency’s Narcotics Analysis and Technical Service Institute in Bangkok on Thursday.

 

The process ends with the destruction of the illicit substances.

Well that was informative, could have walked us through it a bit better and the crucial point is the destruction of the contraband. He could have given a demonstration of that. 

Very impressive photo opp. More pre election grandstanding from the country that gives us  road carnage on steroids, primitive education ,one day wars on plastics ,selective law enforcement and on and on and on......but the good news is we have nice malls....

They're missing the steps where fake drugs are substituted for the real ones...and the real drugs are trucked off to some general's warehouse for resale.

It’s sealed in a package and inside in an ampule, no need for such a pony show.

Or they could just render it all down and resell in its original form ''DRAINO''....

If the "drugs" had already been tested and shown to be "illegal" why show the demonstration?  Probably to boost the morale of the government and let the general public know they are doing a "good job" by keeping them off the street.  However, in this display, I did not see any sealed packages being open and being tested except some blue package being taken from the yellow ones but no evidence to indicate they were being truly testing or, ... sorry, just remembered this is Thailand, the land of imaginary reality, superstition, and unrealistic attitudes, amongst other things.  Therefore, it is appropriate to just go through the motions to show that a job well done is being performed.  Oh, well, we can dream on.
