Couple arrested over secret brothel

Featured Replies

Police have arrested a married couple who allegedly ran a massage shop offering sexual services in Phnom Penh’s Tuol Kork district.

Major Sok Sothea, an officer with the Interior Ministry’s anti-human trafficking and juvenile protection department, yesterday identified the couple as Sok Ratana and his wife Duong Sreypov.

Maj Sothea said the couple was arrested on Tuesday at about 8pm after their massage parlour was raided by a prosecutor and district police. “They operated a massage business for gentlemen who preferred getting massages in the city,” he said. “But they also operated an illegal prostitution shop hidden inside.”

“They allowed their masseuse, who were employed by the couple, to have sex with clients for about $20-$30 per session,” Maj Sothea added. “The couple took up to $10 from each masseuse.” He noted that prior to the raid, anti-human trafficking police from the Interior Ministry sent two police officers in posing as businessmen in December.

Missed that one

Hard to believe, a massage shop a front for a brothel. LOS take note.

Learn, learn, learn. Something new everyday.

In December 2 policemen were sent in posing as business men. And just came out 3 weeks later to report what they had found. 555

Probably significant that Maj Sothea's part of the anti-human trafficking and juvenile protection department and two of the five masseuses were underage. I'd guess this was a targeted raid rather than part of a general crackdown on knocking shops.
