reapplying for marriage 'O' visa.

Featured Replies

I previously had the extensions going for over 10 years but had to let it expire (around July18.) as the dates to collect after another year extension clashed with a project i am doing overseas. The officer at CW said I could just let it expire adn be on the tourist visa but no more than 180 days of the year. I thought that was ok with me as I'll spent most of the time overseas during this time.

The last couple of times i come back through Don Muang I get grilled as to why I have a tourist visa when I'm married. They say I need to apply for a marriage visa again or they can, at will refuse me entry the next time i come in on a tourist visa. I'm not sure where they expect me to go as Thailand is my home,.. my savings, wife, kids, car, house.. anyways,,.. that's a different story...

As rules have changed, i'm not sure and need information.

Can I apply for a new Spouse 'O' in Thailand or do I need to go to a Thai embassy outside of Thailand. Do I need any money in the bank on initial application. Have the regulations on this changed?

thanks.

It appears your best option may be to get a multiple entry non-o visa that will allow unlimited 90 day entries for a year from the date of issue.

You can get one in Savannakhet Laos with no financial proof.

You could apply for a 90 day non immigrant visa (category O) entry at immigration based upon qualifying for an extension of stay based upon marriage (same financials and supporting documents as the extension). Then during the last 30 days of the 90 entry apply for the one year extension at immigration.

Or you could go to a nearby embassy or consulate to get a single entry non-o visa and then apply for the extension of stay.

My visa is now a tourist one, the 'O' expired a few months ago. Given that, there's no way to get a new spouse 'O' in Thailand correct?

I didn't know I could to do this in Savannakhet? How long does it take? Is it a spouse 'O' visa? I'll search the forum. thanks for the suggestion.
