Delayed at Immigration Desk - Koh Samui

Featured Replies

Greetings

I was delayed by about 5mins at the immigration counter leaving Koh Samui a few weeks ago. The guy kept on swiping my passport, tutting and eventually performed some manual entry on the keyboard.  He finally let me go with an exit stamp and didn't say anything to me.

I have never overstayed in Thai, i have visited many times without a problem. I am guessing it was a glitch with the computer (but nobody else was delayed) or for example when I entered for some reason certain data i.e passport number was wrongly entered and it had to be corrected.  But this would be odd considering it is automated against the scan on the arrival?

I am a bit of a nervous character and didn't enjoy the experience standing at the counter at all and try to avoid such situations. I do appropriate many people here would have had far far worse.

Oddly i had a similar problem in KL with scanning my passport a week after but not to such a long delay. I thought it could be a passport Issue but I have just come back from AUS without any issues and i can use the machine fine in SG.

Should I be concerned when coming back next week and has anybody else experienced this? As the official never said anything I feel its not really a concern but its nagging in the back of my nervous system...

I think you worry too much,5 mins delay, probably felt like that

but may just have been 1 minute, and as IO said nothing to you,

what are you worrying about, plus you have been to KL, Singapore,

and Australia without problem,relax.

regards worgeordie

It is a scan issue. Recently I left via DM. The io swiped it several times. I fly every week. Next several flights swiped first hit. Don't worry it happens

Man, and I thought I had OCD! ????

The info they see is only confirming the details on the Passport match, nothing else.

Not directly related to your statement, but you may have a take on it. Couple weeks back I entered Los via don mueang. So you look into camera io stamps and on your way. I was checking my date on stamp "until", as sometimes (rarely) they can put wrong date. I didn't get a chance as io quickly called me back and crossed date out and put correct date. First time for me. Nothing exciting there. Anyway I could see her screen. There were two photos of me. One for that entry and one for previous entry week prior. I was not aware that was on their system.

On/off faulty chip?

On/off faulty chip reader?

Wouldn't worry about it.

No reason to concern, the IO probably had a problem with the optical reader, or he needed to search for some additional check-up.

At my last exit at Koh Samui in January the IO also typed something and it took a while before he stamped me out – perhaps he checked if there was a red Interpol alert on me...:whistling: – and I'm resident here for more than 10-years, and had a valid re-entry permission stamp in my passport.

Don't worry...????

Did he?

I think you are mixing up two completely different songs.

Bobby McFerrin's "Don't Worry, Be Happy" and Bob Marley's "Everything's Gonna Be Alright"

It's "Don't worry about a thing, 'Cause every little thing's gonna be all right.....".
