farmerjo
A question from a friend is when does immigration consider the new year as far as having used 6 visa exempt entries last calender year. Is it January or April?
BritTim
First, the only relevant question is the period used when immigration count the two visa exempt entries by land allowed in a calendar year. The answer is January 1st until December 31st. When you see references to six visa exempt entries, this refers to the notification officials receive if you have used six or more visa exempt entries since around the middle of 2015. It is not an instruction to deny entry. It is only intended to prompt officials to scrutinise you more closely as a genuine tourist. It appears that, since the introduction of the two-per-year limit at land borders, immigration officials there do not take account of the notification when deciding whether to grant entry.
