Rangsit Uni poll puts Palang Pracharat leading with 21.5 percent

 

 

According to an opinion poll released today by Rangsit University, the pro-junta Palang Pracharat party will win the March 24 election with an estimated 8.3 million votes, or 21.5 percent of votes cast. The other parties polled as follows:

 

 

Dr. Sungsit Piriyarangsan, dean of the Social Innovations College at Rangsit University, said that they surveyed 8,000 people in 350 electoral constituencies on February 11th and that the survey was based on the assumption that 75 percent of the 38.6 million eligible voters would cast the ballots.

 

He added that parties which do not field candidates in all the 350 constituencies will be at a disadvantage in terms of vote calculation and in the number of party-list MP seats compared to those which contest all constituencies.

Really, they surveyed 8,000 people on ONE day? One day? In 350 separate constituencies? Crap.

Really? You know how the post-election period is going to occur?

Really?

The decline under T. was enormous, the last five years were remarkable in their recovery of the country.

I am not a fan of military takeovers, not at all, but seen the state of the country, politically seen, under the last, hopefully, T government, it might have been necessary.

About the poll, well, it is quite easy to ask 8000 people what party would get their vote, by phone for example, and with students doing the calling it can easily be done in a day, from early morning till evening.

But it's up to the Thai people. They are not unduly troubled by any of it (the vast majority of them).

Let us hope. This fabulously incompetent regime should be denied a democratic victory, by all means possible. After five years they have amply demonstrated they are in way over their heads. Common sense must prevail, and an alternative party must be chosen, in order for the nation to move forward. The army needs to be put out to pasture, and told that they are not wanted, not needed, not popular, and despised by most.

I seem to remember that in the buildup to previous election, parties and individuals were not allowed to be named in these polls, instead they used rather unsubtle inferences.

Well it is entirely possible that he knows both the numbers of the result, and the parliamentary arrangement which will emerge from those numbers to form the government. After all, they were probably drafted months ago, and he may be well enough connected to have seen, or been briefed on them...

Posters, don't forget the President (and founder if I remember right) of Rangsit University,  Dr Arthit Ourairat, was a a well known passionate supporter of Suthep at the time of Bangkok Shutdown.

Currently he has transferred his support to Prayuth so the results of this poll are really no surprise.
