Is it possible for a Thai national to adopt a niece in Thailand while being abroad?

 

The niece is the only daughter of my wife's deceased sister, father is not taking care, but willing to agree to an adoption.

Prior to moving her to Europe she needs to be legally adopted by my wife.

We do not have time for a lengthy or multiple stays in Thailand.

Seems doubtful anybody can give you a specific answer, but you will probably get a dozen wrong answers and vague opinions.

 

Why not call the interior ministry and ask for guidance, get a specific answer how to proceed.

 

My guess (repeat guess) is that your wife will have to at some stage personally attend an interview in Bkk, probably you too.

 

To be honest I would be horrified if permission for adoption was given without personal interviews and especially horrified if it meant just go ahead and send the child abroad. Things like human trafficking would be raised instantly. 

 

Think of the longer-term, make the time.
