Prescriptions From Back Home

Does anyone have any experience in having maintenance medications sent from "back home"? Was told by UPS that I would need an Import Permit Shipping Document for my heart and blood sugar medications to be sent to me here.

Have you priced the medications here? They are most likely to be lower priced than in most other countries and most brands are available here. Check "Save Drug" located outside Carrefoure stores for what is usually the lowest price.

Two things: 1) No doctor/pharmacy will send them overseas; they need to be sent to a US address, then remailed to Thailand, where they generally get through without a problem. "Generally" being the operative word. 2) Not only are virtually all drugs less expensive in Thailand, they usually cost about a third of the US price. So only if you have to only pay a low co-pay and your prescription is very expensive does the first option make much sense.

A couple .. no .. thee ... four other things:

Shelf Life

Correct Storage

Monitoring of effectiveness and side affects.

For these reasons I would advise that you register with an international hospital and get your medication through their pharmacy.

The other reason is fakes.... and there is a problem with fake medicines in Thailand

So again.

International Hospital.

You will find the prices more expensive than the local pharmacy, but not a lot more expensive and for the small increase in cost you will get all the four above covered.

In the case of some hospitals it will be a lot more expensive and I do not have a great deal of faith that a for profit hospital is that much better than a chain of drug stores. Some have been found giving outdated medicine during ISO checks from reports I have read. Fake medication is mostly found in border regions and not in major shopping malls (now if it were Viagra the chance might be higher). :o

The storage is something to watch but many drugs are made here in Thailand so very fresh. You can avoid non air-conditioned places. Yes, he should have a local doctor if they really require monitor but some do not. These are long term medications he is talking about.

Would suggest poster check price locally even if co-pay is low and to be sure drugs are not banned here. You don't want to import something that can not be sold in Thailand and there are a few such drugs.

I would go to a pharmacy and check on the price and availability, use the drug formula and not the brand name,,when I came here I was on an enfazima drug called AD-VAIR 50-250 and it was costing me almost $200 per month at wal-mart,,I got the same medical formula, made by glaxo-welcome,same as my meds there,in the same dispenser and called "seretide 50-250",but here I payed less than $20.

And I have never bought any out of date meds here, the druggist always checks the date when taken off the shelf and will not sell if out of date, and that is even prep.H, I told him not to worry as I was just gonna shove em up myass anyway and he still wouldn't sell em to me. :o

Not that I need it either,,but I have heard that the price will knock your dick in the dirt. . :o

But watch it and don't use to much of it unless told to by your doctor,as it lowers your blood pressure and can cause a form of brain damage for awhile and some folks that take it even die as had been posted here a number of times.

:o Kamagra oral jelly= one satchet= 100 baht. Better than 'V' certainly much cheaper, very quick to take affect. I and most men I know use them with no side effects. They are available in most farang bars in Pattaya. I buy in Naklua. Just mention it to any one in a bar and they will direct you. We all suffer from brewers droop now and then. No shame in that. Enjoy!
