Work permit expiry

Featured Replies

Hi!

My work permit expires on April 25 but my visa extension stamp expires on July 9. I don't know how is this so but I'm guessing I will have to follow my work permit expiration date, am I right? Anyway, I plan on not renewing my employment contract and go back to the Philippines for good. However, I need to fly abroad for work related stuff and will have to be back in Bangkok on April 27, which is 2 days after my work permit expires.

What's the best thing for me to do? Talk to my employer to end my employment on April 25 and use a tourist visa when I come back to Bangkok? Do I need a re-entry permit? Or can I use a 30-day free tourist visa to stay in Thailand for a few more days? I will leave Thailand after a week or so with all my things. Also, what should I do with my work permit after it expires? Surrender it to my employer or to the ministry of labor?

Thanks for the help.

Entering without  a re-entry permit will make you extension invalid which means you will not be able to work after you return.

You employer can cancel your work permit with your permission.
