Deputy PM Prawit visits South to give mora support to civilians, officers

 

   

BANGKOK, 12th March 2019 (NNT) - The Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister, Gen. Prawit Wongsuwan, and his entourage on Monday (March 11) visited southern Thailand to give moral support to civilians and officers, following a series of insurgent attacks in Satun and Phatthalung provinces last week.

 

The Spokesman for the Ministry of Defense, Lt. Gen. Kongcheep Tantravanich, said Gen. Prawit and his entourage inspected an area damaged by a bomb attack in Phatthalung and gave moral support to a group of students and teachers affected by the incident.

 

The Defense Minister and the team of high-ranking officials then traveled to Satun to observe the damage caused by the insurgents and meet the local people.

 

 

During the visit, Gen. Prawit said he would like to thank the officers from all units for working together and doing their best to ensure the safety of the general public, as the situation has steadily improved.

 

He has called on the local authorities to be tolerant and merciful towards those who have opposing views.

 

According to investigators, the bombings could be related to the insurgency in the three southern border provinces of Narathiwat, Pattani, and Yala. The attacks came after the authorities had carried out operations to crack down on drug trafficking and other illegal activities in the region.

 

 

The investigators added that they have identified the perpetrators responsible for the recent attacks in the far South and will investigate further to identify more people involved in the insurgency.

among the thinking, his presence is the opposite of support

Keeping a watch on things, this minute deputy didn't give a second glance at the underlying causes of the troubles; his timely intervention merely exacerbated the situation.

Moral support  is that a misprint?

Government workers ordered to line up for the photo op, that is how pathetic it is.

you've obviously misunderstood him, the people should be tolerant and merciful towards the coup makers and watch collectors.

As the south is still under a continuous State of Emergency wherein human rights (ie., right to due process of law) are waived in regard to ANY action by the Thai police, paramilitary and military,  tolerance and mercy  by Thai authorities is not mandatory.
