aroimaak Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 Hi folks. I'm new in BKK, and drawing/arts is a hobby of mine. I'm looking for some drawing classes or something where I can draw from a live model. Anyone know any place in the central BKK area? I'm staying at Sukhumvit. Cheers!

aroimaak Posted March 2, 2007 Author Posted March 2, 2007 Illegal? I don't know thai law but I've seen some things here that make me doupt it.. There's one art gallery right on Sukhumwit near 22 that advertises drawing classes but seems to be closed all the time. Found one on the web too, but the courses seems to be aimed at kids. But seriously, this is a metropoly.. This is Bangkok!

This is Bangkok! many things are illegal here that you see all time, I think I was reading about a nud_e painting in the paper, a recent exhibition, after the opening the authorities made them turn the painting round to face the wall, perhaps its ok if people are warned and children not allowed to see, I dont know, would be interesting to know what the law is, might not be nice to be at an art class and have the police turn up tho
astral Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 Go to a Go-go bar with your sketch pad.............. I cannot imagine that you will get any other opportunity. This is a serious comment. Generally Thai girls and guys are far to modest to pose in the nud_e, strange though that may seem to the bar flies.
Ijustwannateach Posted March 4, 2007 Posted March 4, 2007 At the art departments of colleges I've visited, the models are only partly nud_e- in a loincloth, shorts, or skimpy dress (for female models). I'd have to follow up Astral's recommendation- pay someone who works in a naughty industry to pose for you; though they will not be very good models. It actually takes a bit of talent, patience, imagination, and physical endurance to be a good model, especially for drawing or painting- short attention spans and easily-bored people will not do well.
