For the Songkran break, Thailand’s cabinet on Tuesday decided to waive tolls on the Bangkok-Pattaya and Bangkok-Bang Pa-in-Bang Phli motorways effective midnight on April 10th until midnight on April 18th.

Government deputy spokesman Lt-Gen Weerachon Sukhondhapatipak said that as a large number of people are expected to leave Bangkok for the provinces during the annual Songkran festival, the cabinet decided to waive the toll fees to facilitate travel.

Official holidays for the Songkran festival are from April 13-16, but many revelers are expected to set out 1-2 days before to avoid heavy traffic on the three main arteries to the northern, northeastern and southern regions.

Blaady typical...I leave Pattaya on the 7th...returning 20th....no such luck 4 me    :cheesy:

Great, so we don't have to pay for the privilege of dodging drunk drivers during that time.

As I can see the calendar the trafic-jam will start 6/4 !!!

Yes, why not give the speeding, pissed-up drivers a helping-hand!  It'll save them from having to slow-down for the toll-booths!

I'll be where I always am during Songkran; the fridge will be stocked in plenty of time.
