No photo required for visa on arrival in Laos

Featured Replies

Today i went to the border crossing at Nong Khai / Vientiane to make a visa run, as many times before.

Before i always came fully prepared and did of course have a passport size photo for the visa on arrival in Laos with me.

But when i arrived on the Laos side already i noticed that i don't have any photos with me.

So i asked the IO who handed me the visa on arrival form where i could take a photo, because i forgot them.

He told me no problem, i don't need one. I expected to be asked for a tip for this service, but after completing the form and handing it over i wasn't ask for any tip or similar.

So at least at this border crossing a photo seems to be not required for a visa on arrival for Laos.

I have read of them doing a copy of your passport photo page and using that instead of a photo.

Best to always have a photo for the application though.

Yes, does of course make sense to always carry one, because you never know what they come up with the next time.

But from now on i will always try the "i forgot a photo" line first and if the IO should insist on one i will check my bag again ????
