March 26, 20197 yr Can anyone suggest a shop that will deliver kosher salt? I want to do some pickling and table salt won't do the trick. And even better, is there a Thai alternative? Thanks very much! ???? Edited March 26, 20197 yr by up-country_sinclair
March 26, 20197 yr I would think plain non-iodized salt would be readily available. Ask for the same salt used to make pickled mustard - Pak Gat Dong ผักกาดดอง.
March 26, 20197 yr If you are heading from BKK toward Ratchaburi or Pet buri, stop off near Amphawa. get a kilo of sea salt for pocket change from store holders. If it is too coarse grain for your needs, throw some in a plastic bag and roll it with a rolling pin or even a bottle. If the bottle is beer, you can enjoy the contents at the same time.
March 26, 20197 yr I do a lot of "pickling" and use sea salt. It's available at the local Ma and Pa grocery store at 10 baht for a kilo bag or 120 baht for a 50 kilo bag. I usually buy the 1 kilo bag.

If I use it in a brine that is cooked/warmed, I use it as is. If I make something like sauerkraut I usually put it in a small food processor first to get fine granules.
