Vireya Rhododendrons

Featured Replies

I fell in love with Vireya Rhododendrons a few years back but have never seen them growing down south. Does anyone grow these anywhere in Thailand? They are so beautiful and I would love to have a one or two or ten in my garden :D

Vireya species number over 300, approximately one third of all rhododendrons, and can be found growing across S.E. Asia, principally in New Guinea, Borneo, Sulawesi, Sumatra and the Philippines. Whilst these are considered to be tropical regions, vireyas mostly grow in the cool mountainous areas either as epiphytes, high in the tall trees of the cloud forest, or in more open ground in shrubberies.
