Visas to and from Laos

Featured Replies

Can someone advise if the following is true?

You may also obtain a 60 day visa for Thailand at the Thai Embassy in Vientiane for 1000 Baht. A double entry visa is available for 2000 Baht entitling the holder to enter Thailand twice for 60 days on each entry. This takes two working days inclusive, and must be applied for in the morning only. This means that if you apply on a Monday morning you will receive your visa on a Tuesday afternoon. This kind of visa is extendable at any Thai immigration office within the Kingdom of Thailand for a further 30 days, for a fee of 1900 Baht.

The above begs further questions:- I am presuming that Tourist Visa is the subject!

1. What restrictions are there in Laos regarding frequency of visits.

2. Similarly does the Thai Embassy in Vientiane restrict the number of Single or Double Entry Visas issued, and how long must I be out of Thailand before another Thai visa is available.

Not sure where you found that old out of date info. A two entry tourist visa has not been possible since November of 2015.

You can get a single entry tourist visa at the Thai embassy in Vientiane for a fee of 1000 baht.

1. There is no limit on the number of vias on arrival you can get for Laos.

2. About 3 or 4 tourist visas is the most you expect to get at the embassy in Vientiane.

You can enter Laos from Thailand early morning and apply for a tourist visa that morning and pick it up the next afternoon.

Vientiane: Must make an appointment online or will not be allowed inside the consulate.  May need to schedule the appointment up to three weeks in advance.

Savannakhet:  No appointment needed, but the application for Tourist Visa requires a printed bank statement showing at least 20k baht in a bank account.  The bank account does not have to be Thai.
