Current status for obtaining a Tourist Visa from Seoul, South Korea

Hi all,

 

I was going to do a border run to Myanmar or Cambodia within the next few weeks but wondered what the current situation is in South Korea for obtaining a Tourist Visa instead? If this is possible with minimal hassle then I would rather go there for a few days and travel around and get a visa to come back with. I read a forum post a while ago where someone said he was 'made to purchase a flight out'. so I am wondering if anyone knows the status or has been recently.

There was a recent report of a person getting one at the embassy in Seoul. They showed everything on the list of required documents that you can be found here. http://www.thaiembassy.org/seoul/en/services
