Hi. I came to Thailand end of January via airplane.  At airport BKK I got 30 days exemption stamp till end of february, then went to Immigration for extension 30 days till end of march, then made border run with 30 days exemption till end of april. And now I am wondering If I can go to Immigration again for getting 30 days extension?

It depends on your nationality.

Some only get a 7 days extension.

If your handle is any indication, as a German you will get 30 days

extension at Immigration after having used land border

Okay thx. So ist doesnt matter If you leave Thailand with airplane or on the road. After visa exemption for 30 days I can go to Immigration and will get extension for 30 days? Just pay 1900 Baht....

That's what I was trying to convey.

For certain nationalities it does matter how you entered Thailand visa exempt

when you apply for an extension of stay.

I used HK passport at a land border and only got 7 days extension of stay at Immigration within the country.

I think they told me if I had flown in I could have got 30 days.

Did another border run and got 30 days there.....

Yes you can.

Just remember you can only do 2 visa exempt entries by land this year.

That is because you get your visa exempt entries from a bilateral agreement.

Only those getting entries from the standard visa exempt scheme can get them.

But the 2 entry per calendar year rule at land border crossing does not apply to those the on a bilateral agreement.

@Wolf1 - If you decide to stay longer after your next 30-day extension-of-stay from immigration, consider getting a Tourist Visa from a consulate nearby, instead of another Visa-Exempt entry.

And as you will be accumulating time "in country" by that time, you may need to begin avoiding bad entry points (like the Bangkok Airports), and stick to law-abiding / friendly land-borders (all of them except Poipet/Aranyaprathet), instead.

Okay thx. After the next extension at Immigration end of this month I will go back to germany for 1-3 months. So I stayed here for 4 months on 2x exemption and 2x extension. I will come back this year for maybe another 3-4 months. So what's the best way then to make it into thailand without causing any questions or even trouble.
