I am sure this has been asked a thousand times before apologies. I am in Bangkok. I normally live up north but am here waiting for my work permit to come through. I stay under a non immigrant 'o' by way of marriage. I have been in Thailand on and off for 1 year but have been lucky enough not to have to do a visa run before because of flights to home. My last exit date this time is 5th April 07. This gives me approximately 4 weeks to sort this out. I have been assured by my potential employer that the permit will arrive shortly. I do not want to waste money on unnessesary travel. However shortly can mean many things here. So my question is this, can I get an extention to cover this period, or is it better to just cover all the bases and go to Cambodia and is this the best place to travel to from Bangkok to renew my visa.

If you can show a family income of 40K per month you can apply for your extension without difficulty.

If you existing visa was based on 400K in the bank you can continue to use that approach for the extension.

Your work permit does not really come into the picture.

He is here on a multi entry non immigrant O visa without a job so has no income or ability to use the old 400k deposit from my reading. But what is not clear is if the visa will still be valid for the April visa run? If the visa is still valid then Cambodia border crossing/return is logical. If you need a new visa Cambodia is not a good option and you should look to Laos/Malaysia/Singapore for a normal single entry non immigrant O visa using marriage certificate and signed copy of wife ID card.
