BANGKOK, 14 MAY 2019 (NNT) – The Department of Business Development of the Ministry of Commerce is promoting online business by opening a Thai Select foodshop project in cooperation with Grab Thailand for delivery. A cooperation agreement has been signed under the project to publicize Thai SELECT foodshops and a variety of reliable franchised foodshops and provide access to new consumers.

At initial stage, Grab Food will deliver foods from 101 Thai SELECT foodshops out of a total of 500 Thai Select foodshops nationwide as well as 22 franchised foodshops in Bangkok and Chiang Mai selected by the department. The Grab Food delivery will be provided in Khon Kaen, Nakhon Ratchasima, Hat Yai and Pattaya within the second quarter of this year.

Department of Business Development Director General Wuthikrai Leeviraphan said the Ministry of Commerce’s Thai SELECT sign given to over 1,300 Thai foodshops in Thailand and abroad can create reliability and recognition by foreign customers for more than 20 years. Grad Food is believed to help increase the sales of Thai SELECT foodshops because it has access to consumers of 48 languages. The operators are encouraged to use technology and innovation in running their business.

Grab Food is an online food deliverer in 336 towns in eight Southeast Asian countries, including Thailand and joined hands with over 15,000 foodshops in Bangkok and Chiang Mai last year to deliver more than three million orders. Over four million orders have been delivered during this year’s first quarter and up to 20 million orders are expected throughout this year.
