Long march to campaign for freer access to medicinal cannabis starts tomorrow

Civic groups, campaigning for fewer restrictions on the use of cannabis and its products for medical purposes, will begin a long march from Thailand’s northern province of Phichit to Bangkok tomorrow.

 

The march will be led by Mr. Decha Siripat, a pioneer in the medical use of cannabis and president of the Khao Kwan foundation, and will be joined by Dr. Arthit Urairat, former House speaker and rector of Rangsit University.

 

Dr. Arthit said he would join the march at the starting point at Wachiraphothiyarn monastery, in Po Thalay district of Phichit province, because he wants to support the campaign to have cannabis removed from the Category 5 list of narcotic drugs and recognized as medicinal herb.

This has been army initiative from the start.   They only care about themselves, and the shear joy of making the populous do what they say.  Thais should complain early on.   They just seem to wait too long and put up with way too much crap.

while i appreciate all the work being put in,
where and how can a cancer sufferer get medical weed ?

excellent, will join the march !

hope politicians will listen to the people and not the big pharma !

Compared to the "war on drugs" initiated by the fugitive monster, the army/junta has  been rather 'lax' about this matter.

They obviously know little about the potential big money they could be making in Thailand if they legalised marijuana. You'd instantly see an influx of tourists heading for the coffee shops of Pattaya. Not just Pattaya each tourist area would have its own marijuana area. Just imagine how this would change Thailand. Chill out visiting temples, have some edibles at the local bakery then sit in a coffee shop next to a waterfall smoking dabs or a nice fat blunt. Every island paridise pumping out slow reggae beats. It would certainly be the land of smiles then.
