A total of 850,000 targets were detected in real time by the Israeli Tzayad digital army programme across all the military’s theatres of war between 7 October and the end of 2025.

Israel identified about 1,000 potential targets a day during the first two years of the wars in Gaza and Lebanon with its command and control system, according to a presentation by the country’s largest arms supplier, Elbit Systems.

There were 2.2 million people and 300,000 buildings in Gaza before October 2023, the main theatre of war in the two years following, Bryant said, suggesting that the IDF had at one point or another targeted “up to or over half the entire population and infrastructure” of the territory.

One Israeli intelligence officer said targets flagged up by Lavender were assessed by a human for “20 seconds a time”. Two intelligence officers said it was permitted to kill 15 or 20 civilians during airstrikes on low-ranking militants during the early stages of the Gaza war.

Wes Bryant, a former senior targeting adviser and policy analyst at the US Pentagon who specialised in civilian harm assessments, said he believed the 850,000 figure was highly concerning.

No. The British Mandate in Palestine, and Lord Rothschild's support for a Jewish homeland, should never have resulted in the creation of a Zionist state populated by traumatised European refugees. I understand that many had suffered unimaginable horrors in Europe, but that doesn't mean creating a new state was the right solution. Equally, the same principle applies to Palestinian Arabs. When people have endured generations of conflict and trauma, the consequences can be profound. In my view, Britain should never have been trying to resolve Europe's problems by reshaping Palestine.

That is an interesting observation, because I somehow have the impression that it was always the other way around:

Every time when there was a report or news article in the western media about one of the countless atrocities committed by Israel, it ended with something like:

“This incident is the result of the conflict between Israel and Gaza/Westbank/Iran/Jordan/you name it, which started because of the heinous/atrocious/shocking/evil/cruel/you name it, attack of Hamas on October 7.”

I can't recall a single report or news article in the western media about October 7 that ended with something like:

“This attack was the result of 75 years of oppression, murder, land theft, torture, mass deportation, you name it of the Palestinians by Israel.”

So, you playing the offended prima donna comes over a bit hypocritical.

Words are words and anybody can say them, Nick. An action, on the other hand, could be, say, severing diplomatic relations with Israel, accepting Palestinians as war refugees, or the old Israeli trick of pre-emptive war.

Nick, I agree this is horrible. But the IDF's open season on Palestinians is equally horrible. Few of those civilians, esp women and children are Hamas terrorists. The IDF kills them anyway.
