I have a possibility of 2 years work in the near future.y question is once I have a WP based on the marriage visa can I just revert

back to the marriage visa, or does the marriage visa remain valid for the duration.

Thanks in advance

There is not difference between a non-o visa or extension of stay based upon marriage between having a work permit and not having one.

The only difference when you have a extension of stay is how you prove your 40k income if you have a work permit.

A WP is issued based on work, not marriage. If married you can apply for a WP using a category ‘O’ visa as opposed to a ‘B’.

If you have a ‘O’ visa/extension of stay  — which is your best option — your work is not linked to your permission to stay so it doesn’t matter if you’re working or not.

If you use the income from your work to meet the financial requirements for the ‘O’ visa/extension of stay as a spouse you will need to provide an alternative source of income or have 400K in the bank.
