I'm having massive issues with my visa extension.

Lived in CM on extensions based on Thai child for a number of years using salary in Thailand and work permit to extend - no issues.

I get a new job in Bangkok, stay in Bangkok 2 to 3 days a week then spend rest of time in Chiang Mai, I'm allowed to work from home a lot.

Have BOI work permit issued in Bangkok and the company I work for is based in Bangkok.

I thought I need to extend in Bangkok - Cheang Wattana refused as my child goes to school in Chiang Mai.

Went to BOI and they refused to extend to non-b extension, need to leave the country get new visa and can extend but I don't want to waste my current 2 years unbroken extensions.

I could extend based on money in the bank route however I have been told by one visa agent new rules so need to be in the bank for 2 months even Thai child. Not possible as have to transfer money in and extension is due in 2 weeks.

So can I extend in Chiang Mai based on Thai child using my BOI work permit that was issued in Bangkok and using the companies paper work all Bangkok? Or because I technically work in Bangkok I need to extend in Bangkok and therefore I can't do anything?

Since you are only using your income from working to meet the 40k baht income option there is should not be a problem applying in Chiang Mai if you can show proof of residence for there. The rules only state you need proof the income by way of tax payment receipts and your annual income tax return. And a work permit to prove you are working.

If you have problems using your income you could apply for a 60 day extension to visit your child to get more time to have 400k baht in the bank for 2 months.

The written rules do not show that the money has to be in the bank for any amount of time for an extension based upon being the parent of a Thai. But some offices want it in the bank for 2 months.

Thanks Ubonjoe for all your help.

I could get a 60 day extension on the back of my 1 year extension? And this would not affect the unbroken extensions for residence?

What kind of proof is required for residence, in Chiang Mai I live at my partners house (I hesitate to call it 'my' house)?

Used that same address for the past 2 extensions.

Thanks again

Yes you can.

It would an extension of your original entry you have been extending. It would not break the 3 years you are trying to get. Only leaving the country for a new visa breaks that.

It would  be the same for this extension since that has been your proof of residence before.

I didn't show any proof of residence for the other extensions just the TM30.

If you child's house book registry is for the same address you have been using that is your proof of residence.

It's not actually, my child and partner are on a different house book.

I actually remember, my proof of address was the address in my old work permit but now work permits don't have addresses in them.

Don't know how I can prove an address, I assume a car finance letter in my name would not be accepted?

If you partner has a house book for where you are living that can be used for your proof of residence. Along with their ID card and a short statement that you are living with them.

OK thanks however she doesn't have the house book yet.

Would it be advisable to just say I live at the address that my partner and child are in the house book? This would be easy to do?

Or should I make a rental agreement to say I rent the house?

That could be possible but you still need a house book and a ID card copy attached to it.
