CHONBURI, 15 June 2019(NNT) - Low-income earners may be able to acquire a house of their own on Koh Sichang. A total of 111 Baan Mankhong houses are to be built on long neglected public land on the island.

Deputy Forestry Department Director General, Paramin Wongsuwat said yesterday that the Baan Mankhong construction project will be built in a run-down forest area which is public land on Koh Sichang off Chonburi province. The project is designed to improve the quality of life of low-income earners. The Community Organizations Development Institute is in charge of the project. Over 400 low-income earners will be provided with the 111 houses, in an effort to improve their quality of life.

Koh Sichang Municipality Mayor, Damrong Phetra said the land on which the houses will be built is in a neglected, unoccupied forest area without trees of commercial value. Koh Sichang municipality which covers some 7.96 square kilometers of land will run a reforestation project and see to it that garbage or waste water does not affect the environment.

111 homes for 400 low-income earners? Is that like home-sharing?

Where is Saint Patrick when you need him?!

lets hope PLANNING PERMISSION is granted BEFORE construction...otherwise once built they could well have to be pulled down...like other hotels/properties that should not have been built !!

Place looks crowded already, also did they not have a major garbage problem there.

Are you thinking of Koh Chang which has a major problem?

Probably, they're called families.

Cut down trees cover the land with cement then complain about the flooding and runoff to the ocean

Yeuk, those things are nasty and frightening!

Assumptions on both our parts, but knowing how Thais are with numbers, it’s probably some other iteration. :)

The thing is, my interpretation (you call it an assumption) is a pretty likely one.

And, where are all these people, with their shinny new homes, find work?

Sorry, don't know. I was on about the large centipedes you get in Thailand.
