I help my elderly friend get another yearly extension on his original Non-Immigrant Type OA (Long Stay) visa

He provided the following

• print out of the current year 100K USD mandatory health insurance

• print out of the new year 100K USD mandatory health insurance

• 'standard' bank letter (we got it at the bank last friday)

• 1 year detail transaction report (we got it printed at the bank last friday)

• copies of his bank book (updated the day we applied)

• print out of the appt from the online booking system

• most recent TM47 - 90 day report receipt

• TM7 application for extension

• TM30 receipt

• Letter from his hotel stating he is long term resident

• Hand drawn map to his hotel

• STM-2 Acknowledgement of criteria & conditions

• STM-9 Acknowledgement of penalties for visa overstay

• STM-11 Consent Form for Fact-Checking & Information Verification of Application

• copies of data page of the passport and all the pages with thai stamps

• 1900baht + one passport sized photo

he signed everything in blue ink,

His appt was for 11, the number came up on the queue board in promptly at 11, he went in sat down. He was back out sitting with me in the waiting area 10 minutes later and by 11:25 we'd gotten his passport returned with another year extension and were on the way to the car..

All in all it was the smoothest yearly extension I've seen in a while,

Good to hear. Just one thing piqued my interest. If he is on an annual retirement extension, why the need for a hand drawn map to his accommodation?

He didn't supply lease. Interesting

Have small concern this year as I missed 90 report due to accident and if I go to report desk prior to obtaining extension the io sent me off to do the extension first.

Hoping extension desk will not give me grief.

Always been required.

Note have been reports of where it was not asked for.

Map only needs to be from residence to main road or landmark such as a mrt etc

as far as the map I use that template that Chiang Mai immigrations used to hand out to people it seems to really go over well with the officers

Ok. Never been asked for a map in 18 years at Chiang Mai, hence my curiosity.

I did my extension at Chaengwattana on 14 August and, like last year, it was over and done with in less than 20 minutes. There wasn't a document check desk this year as in previous years. And if you have an appointment, they stamp and verify the passport in a few minutes. In past years, they would wait and collect a bunch of them and then bring them back in 30 or 40 minutes. Now, with an appointment, things go very fast.

That's the most important part , never asked for map or lease up here in Chiang Mai,

you're post might encourage others to do it yourself ,instead of paying for agent ,,,

It's a CW thing along with few other offices.

Always surprised me at CW as sounds like a hillbilly requirement

Suggest that the main driving force to use agent is avoidance of financial requirements.

The actual process is not difficult and does not necessitate use of agent

At what age is OA insurance unavailable/ not worth the price? I'd be converting to O to avoid that

As you would be aware... You would need to kill off the Non O-A by exiting Thailand.

Personally I would be inclined to obtain the Non O eVisa while out of Thailand.

Married guys can switch to extension based on marriage to avoid insurance requirement

He lives at a hotel long-term, he had a letter from them stating when he first started living there until now and that he is a long stay resident

As far as that 90-day report that you missed, unfortunately I don't have the answer for you. I would go file the 90-day report pay the 2,000 baht failure to file on time fine and then go get your year extension

Couple of years back my report window was open at time of extension.

I made a 90 report appointment for 1pm and a 1.30pm appointment for the extension retirement.

When I went to the report desk she said "no go and do extension first"

She seemed to imply that she couldn't give me next due date past my permission of stay date.

Nonetheless I'm inclined to do what you suggest.
