Hello good people,

I've been searching around the net but cannot find any information on thai visa's for Ecuadorian citizens, so I figured I would ask the experts here at thaivisa.

Briefly.

I'm australian and my girlfriend is ecuadorian. We are making a partner visa application in australia and want her to stay in Thailand for 6 months so it's easier for us to spend time together while we wait for a decision on our visa.

So firstly I have found there is a thai consulate in Quito, so she can apply for a 60 day tourist visa.

If she applies for a 60 day tourist visa how long after the decision will we have to enter Thailand to begin the 60 day period?

After applying for the 30 day extension we want to apply for one more tourist visa, to take us to 6 months total. Will it be possible to do this while she is in Thailand, or is it necessary for her to return to Ecuador or another country to make that application.

Additionally, is this generally frowned upon or looked at as being acceptable so long as we have the funds.

If anyone knows the answer you will be offering a great help by sharing your wisdom.

Thanks and god bless,

She can a apply for a single entry tourist visa at the honorary Thai consulate in Quito.

Contact info is here: http://www.thaiembassy.org/lima/en/services/9293/99935-Applying-for-a-visa-at-Honorary-Consulates.html

After that one finishes she could apply for another one at a nearby embassy or consulate without a problem.

Thankyou Ubon. And she could do that while still being in Thailand, or would she need to go to another country?

She would have to leave the country to do the application. There are embassies and consulates in neighboring countries where she can apply for the visa.

The single entry tourist visa is valid for 90 days, and (as you already know) allows a 60-day stay with a possible 30-day extension that can be applied for at an immigration office in Thailand. For a further tourist visa, it will be necessary to travel to a consulate in a nearby country (Laos, Malaysia and Vietnam are possible options).

Immigration normally will not create any obstacles for the first few months. If trying to enter Thailand after a continuous stay of, say, four to six months, it is best to get advice on safe entry points to do so.
