PM cannot attend cabinet or summit due to legal technicality – Piyabutr

Future Forward party secretary-general Piyabutr Saengkanokkul has accused Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha of violating the Constitution by chairing cabinet meetings last week and yesterday (June 18th).

In his Facebook post yesterday he said that General Prayut was appointed the post-election prime minister by a Royal Command dated June 9th, in accordance with Article 158 of the Constitution.

He explained that General Prayut, for the time being, is serving in two capacities, namely the post-election prime minister and head of the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO), adding that the second capacity as NCPO chief will expire once the new cabinet is officially set up, in accordance with Article 265 of the Constitution.

Good on Piyabuttr for trying to apply 'laws' and strictures that The Leader would apply to Thanathorn and Future Forward. But Piyabuttr should know by now that the junta and its grandiose masters play by a wholly different rule-book and set of laws - entirely their own (made up, on the spot, as and when they are required).

Piyabuttr will probably face legal consequences now - for 'causing confusion' amongst the Thai public!

Did he not take over the country illegally at the time by armed force ? If so sure as hell he does not care about any ongoing legal technicalities.

Be calm and remember, soldiers are everywhere, maybe even in your ranks ...

Yes for now - but the tide could change in the future and it could very well land these criminals where they belong - in prison !

According the Thai Baht exchange rate and the real estate prices in Thailand, it does not matter what politicians in Thailand do or say.

Every time Trump or Erdogan says something you see an immediate effect on the exchange rates.

Currently someone only has to sneeze somewhere on the European continent for the pound to drop against the Euro !

Aside from the dual posts that Prayut currently serves, the continued existence of Prayut's pre-election cabinet also I believe violates the constitution - it should cease to exist once the PM and the NLA MP's were royally endorsed and they have been. The new cabinet has yet to be even submitted for endorsement!

But by some mystical power Prayut dismissed the illegality of retaining the pre-election cabinet; he doesn't even bother to invoke Article 44.

Welcome to Prayut's "Thai-styled" democracy.

A complete and utter shambles, politics Thai style 2019, who in the ASEAN or International arena are going to take them seriously?

A constitution isn't that big of a deal here.  Don't they make a new one up after every coup?  And since 1932 they've been averaging a coup roughly every five years.  Just saying.  The current 'constitution' is as good as gold, well until the next coup.

LOL, there's no 'cabinet' yet, and there was no truly legal 'PM' bearing dictator Prayuth's name anyway! Pity I wasn't 'served' this BS at BF time, I'd had one more croissant with strawberry jam, LOL! Oh, what a bunch of ...(*)! (*No Thai bashing allowed...)

Sorry, 'hotchilli', but what does ASEAN mean anyway, but a bunch of greedy dictators in a playground closely watched by oger China...?

Trying to apply "laws' as he interprets them; or would like them to be interpreted.

Just as all the others try and do.

Well no surprises here, he has a clear record kf ignoring the law, in this case his own very laws. A disgrace. This person belongs in jail and nowhere else.
