Noticed in the Bangkok Post today the story about a BYD Dolphin being involved in a fire in Khon Kaen; however, BYD denies the EV caused the fire because initial investigation indicates the fire started in the external charging network (i.e., the home charger, home wiring, etc.) ......see below Bangkok Post weblinks. And a TheThaiger article on the same subject indicates the home owner seems to to agree that's a real possibility the fire started in the home wiring. The TheThaiger article picture shows the Dolphin high voltage battery is "not" on fire but the home is on fire. See TheThaiger article at bottom. It sure appears the wall/granny charger, home wiring, etc., was the source of the fire and not the EV. This is possibly going to be an example of overloaded home wires, unsafe installation of the charger, etc. https://www.bangkokpost.comBYD denies its EV caused house fireRever Automotive, the distributor of BYD cars in Thailand, said on Wednesday that a house fire did not result from its electric vehicle but from external factors including a charging system at the hou In TheThaiger article/picture below notice the EV in the picture....the high voltage battery is "not" on fire....now the front of the EV appears to be on fire most likely from the fire starting in the carport/home area. https://thethaiger.com/news/national/byd-denies-vehicle-fault-in-khon-kaen-house-fire "The homeowner, 46 year old Setthaphat Kaewfainok, told police and local media that he had returned home in the electric vehicle the previous evening and connected it to a charger installed in the garage. Setthaphat later addressed the issue on Facebook, saying he agreed that an electrical problem in the home could have contributed to the incident."
