BANGKOK (NNT) - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced its preparedness to host the 52nd ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting later this month.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) Spokesperson Busadee Santipitaks, today confirmed the readiness of the 52nd ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (AMM) and its related meetings to take place from 29th July to 3rd August 2019 in Bangkok, saying that the meetings will further advance topics discussed by ASEAN leaders at the 34th ASEAN Summit which has just been concluded.

The main topics at the AMM in Bangkok will continue to be driving and responding to new challenges, which are related to the launch of a Satellite Warehouse in Chai Nat, and the opening of the ASEAN Center of Military Medicine in Thailand, all capable of supporting countries outside the region coping with natural disasters.

The meetings will focus on the promotion of ASEAN’s vision for the Indo-Pacific, which will be presented to countries outside the ASEAN region for their acknowledgement of ASEAN’s concept of coexistence, with an emphasis on sustainable connectivity, peace, respect, mutual benefit, and care for one another.

The MFA spokesperson said related officials are now preparing documents showing the outcomes of discussions on each framework, and documents showing Thailand’s vision of Advancing Partnership for Sustainability, as the chairman of ASEAN Community this year, with the hope of further expanding international cooperation in areas such as marine waste management, which can be further discussed at the meetings between ASEAN leaders and partner countries later this year.
