rooster59
Thai public warned: Don't send parcels for other people - they could contain drugs Image: INN News The Thai post Office has warned the public not to send parcels for other people without checking first what they contain. Penalties could be severe if the parcels are found to contain drugs or other illicit items. Posters explain that people should always have their own ID, write addresses clearly and check what is being sent. And importantly people have been told not to send random parcels for people and not to lend out their ID to others. Or they could wind up in jail. Things like... - Drink enough water during the hot season lest you might get dehydrated - Don't stay out in the sun too long and unprotected or you may suffer a sunstroke - Avoid drinking dirty water, as it may be contaminated with dangerous germs - Drive carefully and with foresight in bad weather conditions or you may have an accident - Drive slowly during rainy weather as roads may be slippery - Look left and right before crossing a railway line or an approaching train could run you over - Don't post valuables in ordinary mail parcels or they might get stolen - Keep your distance from street dogs, as they may be infected with rabies - Don't open a bank account under your name on the behest of other people or they might misuse it for criminal activities - Don't lock your young children in the car with rolled-up windows in 30+ degrees heat or they might succumb to heatstroke - As an alcoholic, don't go cold turkey overnight in preparation for Buddhist Lent because it may cause potentially life threatening withdrawal symptoms - Don't stay alone for prolonged periods when you're depressed as it may worsen your condition, but seek the company of family and friends - ... and countless more such gems. And what does it actually say about a society that needs to be told these things? It's a rhetorical question, of course. 5

Thais love their cartoon characters, even Uncle Tu as he peers down the cleavage of Miss Piggy, or whoever she happens to represent.
