Vientiane still next day visa processing time?

Featured Replies

Is the Thai Embassy in Vientiane still providing next day processing time for visas? i.e. submit in morning of day 1 and receive in afternoon of day 2.

I had seen some comments in forums related to 'problems at Vientiane' or overloading so processing times was many days.

Could someone verify if this is the case or not.

(The Embassy website still mentions next day processing time in Thai language)

It is still next day service.

Since they started the online appointment requirement it is not as busy now.

Appointment site is here: https://thaivisavientiane.com/#

Ah I see - it is now appointment based. Any idea from comments you see in forums,  how far an advance and appointment needs to be made?

For a tourist visa about 2 to 3 weeks in advance.

For a Friday appointment this is first one available today. image.png.c75b44ad5042abb6a2c38cf028fd7a5e.png

Other than Friday this is it. image.png.820629621accc3ba159906669ffba385.png

For a non immigrant visa about a week is enough.

Terrific, thanks Joe.   Now I have registered on the site I can see in advance what is available and plan my trip - thanks!

Hi, if you get an appointment a week before your visa ( SETV) runs out, do you loose that week ? When I need the visa, I’m planning on flying into Vientiane and bus back to Bangkok. What’s the easiest way to get from Vientiane through to the Thai border please?

Your 60 day entry from the the SETV or the 30 day extension of it will end on the day you leave the country.

You can take a taxi, tuk tuk or a van from Vientiane to the bridge and then take the shuttle bus across the bridge to the Thai side of the bridge after clearing Lao immigration.

Thanks, of course , I forget the visa/ extension is cancelled once over the border !
