July 15, 20196 yr Recently my son was born in Thailand, his mother (wife) is a Thai with Aus citizenship. I am. UK born with both Australian and UK citizenship. I wish to get both passports available to him whilst they still are. I would like some advice on any pitfalls I may encounter and some real world experience from those who have been through this. Thanks in advance Shaemus
July 15, 20196 yr No real issues applying for citizenship by descent for Australia given both parents are Australian citizens as long as one has spent at least 2 years in Australia (cumulative) Of course you will need all documents translated and evidence of parent's Australian citizenship. https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/citizenship/become-a-citizen/by-descent#Overview
July 17, 20196 yr Applying for a UK passport is relatively straightforward (as long as you were born in the UK, and you're not British By Descent). You will need proof of your address in Thailand and the child's photos will need to be counter-signed by someone you know, but not family and preferably a UK citizen. You submit the application at the Passport Office at The Trendy in Sukhumvit soi 13 in Bangkok, and collect it from there too. https://www.gov.uk/overseas-passports
