400 Baht in cash taken in Armed Robbery and Abduction in East Pattaya.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Tadkum from Banglamung Police Station was called to the Sombat Wirat Mongkon Convenience Store in Soi Chayapornwiti 8 at around 9.30pm on Wednesday after the owner of the shop, Khun Wirat aged 40 reported an armed robbery at the location.

Police quickly arrived and spoke with the shop owner who confirmed that a Thai man wearing a black jacket who was around 1.7 meters in height entered the shop and approached the counter with beer and “Vitamilk“. As the items were being placed in a plastic bag, the customer produced a gun and demanded Khun Tanaporn aged 40, the sister of Khun Wirat, who was working in the shop at the time, must make her way into a room at the back of the shop which was then locked by the suspect.

Eventually she was released by the suspect and taken at gunpoint by the suspect to a small village about 5kms from the shop. She managed to escape and ran back to the shop and called the Police after realizing the cash register had been broken into and 400 Baht in cash had been stolen.

A full description of the suspect was given to Police who told Khun Tanaporn that he only needed some money to pay for his rent and did not intend to harm anyone. Police are investigating but for now the suspect remains at large.
