Couple took a corpse to market - then left in a hurry!

Thai Caption: Corpse stuck under a vehicle

Police are hunting for a couple after CCTV caught them dragging a corpse to an early morning fruit and vegetable market in downtown Udon Thani.

The corpse had been under a pick-up with the licence plate number 8001 (Udon Thani). It had been parked outside a fruit trader's stall for twenty minutes.

A lady called Lalitawadee, 19, had seen legs protruding out from under the vehicle before the pick-up left the market.

The couple - aged about 35 - 40 - had apparently spotted the corpse, detached it and then driven off.

The market was busy with customers.

Pol Lt Thaen Numcharoen said that the people who dragged the corpse into the market had surely feared trouble so decided to flee the scene. They probably didn't realize the body was under their vehicle at first.

An investigation is underway to find them and determine if they hit and killed the man or someone else did.

He said they should not be hard to find as they were probably frequent visitors to the market.

Sanook reported that the dead man had limbs and head still attached and there were a few scraps of clothing.

Almost all the internal organs and intestines had been eviscerated.

No point hanging around just to get hit with a 500 baht fine

This must be the weirdest story I've ever read. Just how one can not be aware their car is dragging a body is beyond me!

I was going to say un-believable but then remembered where I am.

How gruesome. If they didn’t run over him how the heck did this poor bloke end up under the truck.

pissed n crawled under there at night?

I wonder who the person was? They must be missed by somebody, no mention of a missing person's report from the area? I hope the police solve this mystery quickly and that T V keeps us informed as to the progress made. Not a nice way to die.

The folks in the car, if they did not know that he was there, are going to have to live with this horror for the rest of their lives too. Terrible story.

or maybe just dying to buy something in the market ? ????

I wouldn't be seen dead at that market.????

I was at the market ..... didn't see the body though. Apparently it had been stuck under the truck for some time, and was believed to be a disabled person. Probably run over before dawn, and not seen by the driver, and dragged all the way to market.

And locals appear not to be shocked with this type of incident
