Mystery sleep: Porsche driver unresponsive in the Bangkok traffic

It is often said that Thais could sleep anywhere. They always seed to be able to grab 40 winks at the strangest of times.

But a case from Bangkok in Monday's evening rush hour has got everyone scratching their heads.

Many members of the public showed concern as a yellow Porsche was stopped in the middle of Sukhumvit Soi 71 just a few hundred meters from the Klong Tan intersection.

The driver was either asleep or had passed out at the lights.

When police arrived they too tried to wake him - but it was useless, their banging fell on deaf ears.

Rescue services tried to open the window and when that failed they forced the door.

Finally the driver was led out and led away to Klong Tan police station for questioning. The car was moved over to the side of the road as it was causing a considerable jam.

Sanook reported that the exact reasons the driver was unresponsive have yet to be determined.

But he appeared to be "exhausted".

As he has a porsche he was exhausted, otherwise he would have been pissed or stoned.....

Could be any number of reason from medication to medical condition to plain exhaustion. Let's just be grateful the car wasn't moving when he fell asleep !(became unconscious) and nobody got hurt.

But he was driving prior to falling unconscious !!

Yes we know that, but he was stationary in traffic when discovered, not travelling at speed prior to  sleeping, that was my point.

My point was that he was driving when obviously not fit to do so... he was just lucky to be stationary when he fell asleep or whatever !!!
