A grieving Russian mother has delivered a furious warning to Vladimir Putin after waiting nearly two years for the remains of her son — only to discover his body had been returned without its head.

Ms Sterkhova waited a year and eight months before authorities finally handed over her son’s remains, according to The Moscow Times, as cited by WP. The devastating discovery prompted her to record a direct message to the Russian president, accusing him of destroying and killing young men.

“A few days ago, I buried my son. What is happening in our Russia? Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, what are you doing?” she said. “You’re destroying our boys! You’re destroying them, killing them.”

Her grief quickly turned into a blunt political warning. Looking directly into the camera, Sterkhova asked Putin: “Do you want a civil war?” before declaring: “You’ll get it soon.”

The video has circulated online as an example of anger among Russian military families. Sterkhova’s extraordinary outburst lays bare the frustration surrounding the treatment of soldiers and their relatives.

Then came another bitter blow: bureaucracy surrounding the death of her son. She said a recruitment office demanded the original death document before paying a promised allowance.

But there was a devastating catch. Officials had already confiscated the same paperwork weeks earlier, leaving the grieving mother caught in what she described as an impossible administrative loop.

Sterkhova also accused military commanders of corruption, claiming officers demanded cash from soldiers who wanted to avoid dangerous deployments. Her allegations were blunt and explosive.

“You want to leave? Pay! You don’t want to go to the front? Pay!” she said. She then demanded to know how many more soldiers would be destroyed while accusing officers of profiting from the suffering of military families.

Her anger comes as rumours of another mass mobilisation continue to grow in Russia. Sterkhova made clear that whatever happens next, she does not intend to surrender her surviving son to the state.

“Mothers, rise up, rise up,” she pleaded. “Why are they killing our sons? It’s a mockery!”

Her final question was aimed directly at Putin: “When will you stop all this?”

The video offers a stark glimpse of the fury that can follow when military families are left waiting for answers, compensation and the remains of their loved ones. For Sterkhova, the wait for her son ended with a discovery that transformed grief into a direct confrontation with the Kremlin.

When you read "Do You Want a Civil War?"

You only see the woman who said it. But I also see the newspaper of the "Russian" (not really) oligarchs, "Moscow Times," which originally published it.

Yes, these guys have been threatening to start a civil war for a long time, sitting in London or Amsterdam. They control all big business in Russia and wield a certain amount of influence.

But now they are in despair because Putin found an elegant way to win—promoting Z-heroes through elections.

One of the many things that cause of the USSR to crumble was the formation in 1989 of the Committee Soldiers Mothers of Russia. They campaigned against the hazing and brutalisation of conscripts in the Soviet armed forces (dedovshchina). The catalyst was mounting casualties from Afghanistan.

So far the Kremlin has kept a lid on protests, through brutal suppression and a propaganda war. The Mothers' questioning of the official line on the Afghan War lead to wider questioning in society about what else was the state lying about.

Now you have Igor Girkin (AKA Strelkov, the former FSB Colonel who was active early in the days of the Donetsk separatists, and who's boys probably shot down that Malaysian airliner), has been kicking off from prison issuing letters about how badly the war is going, and how Russia is about to collapase.

He ordered his military to invade a sovereign country and annex parts of it, and his military continues to murder Ukrainian civilians through aerial bombardment on a daily basis. I don’t know if those are technically “war crimes,” but that seems beside the point.

For Putin himself to be a war criminal there would have to be clear evidence, like a written order, that shows he, himself, specifically ordered war crimes.

Have you seen such an order?

The International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued an arrest warrant for Vladimir Putin on charges related to the unlawful deportation of children from occupied areas of Ukraine—classifying it as a war crime under international law. While this doesn't mean he's been formally convicted, the ICC's warrant reflects a legal determination that there are reasonable grounds to believe he bears criminal responsibility. The court doesn't have its own enforcement arm, so actual arrest depends on cooperation from member states.

According to the Russian Constitution, there are judicial, legislative, and executive branches of power. There is no presidential branch. There is no legal penalty for failure to comply with presidential decrees. You have been misled.

If "reasonable grounds to believe" is all you have, that's not enough. You have to KNOW. You have to have clear evidence.

What is this evidence that Putin himself ordered war crimes?
