SETV or Retirement visa ?

Featured Replies

I am 59 and travel extensively in Europe, the Middle East and Asia visiting Thailand over the last 3 years always on a visa waiver and sometimes getting an extension. On my recent entry which i beleive was my 10th I will pulled by Immigration at Don Mueang and forced to book an exit flight which I duly did to Ho Chi Minn. I use Bangkok as a base I have had a condo and a bank account for 3 months now and have travelled from here to Malaysia, Cambodia and Singapore for 3 to 5 days at a time (not just a visa run). I am guessing my time using the waiver is over and therefore I plan on getting a SETV in Vietnam, i will of course carry 20000 baht in cash and have an exit flight booked, which I might dump if I need an extension. I plan on doing this in Australia and Myanmar until I leave for the UK in April 2020 when i will either apply for a METV or get a retirement visa when I return here next summer. Will I get away with this or am i better biting the bullit  and paying one of the Pattaya agencies to sort a retirement visa for me for around 30,000 baht ? (I dont have 800,000 baht i can just leave in an account)

I would obtain O-A (retirement visa) in UK every 2 years. The money requirement can be in UK bank and no need to keep in bank after visa obtained.

You can do that ongoing. Suits a traveller.
