Extension of Stay Expiry

Featured Replies

I have a non imm-O visa that I extend every December (due to marriage).  If I leave the country after extending and come back 8 months later before my next extension is my stay still valid?  Or is there some expiry if I stay out of the country for a certain number of days and I have to apply for a new visa?

Thanks

It will still be valid as long as you buy a re-entry permit (1,000 THB) on the way out at the airport to protect the stay. You can also buy  are-entry permit anytime at your local immigration office. You can stay out as long as you like, but need to return before the re-entry permit expires (same date as your extension) if you want to renew the extension.

In order to keep your extension of stay period alive you must get a re-entry permit before you leave Thailand.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

Have you ever bother to notice the date on your extension stamp? Should not that have a stamp telling you how long you can stay? It will expire as soon as you leave the country unless you've an reentry permit. A reentry permit does not extend your permission to stay date. It just preserves that date (for entry) which you should find out from you extension stamp on the passport.
