Married To A Thai, What Is The Option?

Featured Replies

Hi there

Hope you could help us out.

My bf and I just got married (registered). He is now in Thailand on multiple Non-O obtained from his origin country. To be honest, I don't think he will be able to find any job which pays him more than 40K (as per the minimum requirement for 1 yr extension of visa) any time soon. And I know there's no visa issued based on marriage to a thai person. But I'd really love to know if there is any way ...possible that ...he will be granted a visa to stay here while being in one of these 2 situations.

#1 : Has no job

#2 : Have a job paying less than 40K.

Thanks a lot in advance for your great advices.

If your job and his job combined is more than the 40k, it will work

If he gets a letter from his Embassy stating that he has an income of 40k it will work

; No job or income;; Can get 1 yr extension to non imm. if you have job income of 40k.

#2 : Have a job paying less than 40K.

.....; If he have job paying for example ; 30k. and you have job paying 10k, can get 1yr extension.

........Otherwise get new non imm. from home country or go on to tourist visas.

Thanks a lot in advance for your great advices.

I'm pretty sure if you have 40,000 baht a month that works fine. Are you paying taxes on it, because you would have to prove it to the Thai Government. And if you haven't been, that may bring about a new set of problems, as you would then have to pay a bunch of money.

From your original post, it sounds like you were just married and your husband got a multiple entry visa. So basically you have a full year to deal with things. And with the way the Visa regulations are changing, a year from now there may be a whole new set of regulations. Maybe more money will be required, or maybe it will require the non-thai partner has to make a certain ammount rather than a combined income, etc. I'm hoping they go back to the old rules of just showing a particular ammount in a Thai bank account. I have a similar problem as your husband. Have a hard time priving 40,000 baht a month, but have plenty of money in a Thai bank account that would prove my ability to support a wife for years.

Good Luck and Congratulations.
