Visa exemption and new passport

Featured Replies

Status: Japanese, arrived on visa exemption, extended for 30 days

Issue: passport damaged so have to get replacement

Question: can the passport holder leave the country without going to Chaengwattana to transfer the stamp to the new passport? They would have both passports in their possession.

Any knowledge would be greatly appreciated.

Additional info.

No need to go to a immigration office. It can be done on departure from the country by presenting both passports.

Immigration offices won’t always transfer VE stamps even if you ask them to.

Hand over both passports at passport control and the officer will transfer the entry stamp from the old to new passport; and then stamp you out in the new passport.
