5 years of ED visas at Vientiane, now a tourist visa?

Featured Replies

Is it bad to get a tourist visa at Vientiane after many ED visa runs?

Another option is Poipet which is closer to me in Pattaya but a harsher trek (8-10 hours in a van, I'd prefer flying to Udon to then go to Vientiane).

What type of education did you have in Thailand during those 5 years? Is it a university degree or just some Thai language classes?

A first tourist visa in Vientiane should be no problem. Take bank statements just in case. Should you be unfortunate enough to be refused a tourist visa in Vientiane, you will certainly be able to return visa exempt (assuming you are from a country eligible for them). Remember that you need an appointment now to apply for a visa in Vientiane.

You cannot get a visa in Poipet, and should avoid that particular land crossing under almost all circumstances, with or without a visa.
