A sea turtle was found stranded on a beach near the Laem Chabang deep seaport in Chon Buri’s Sri Racha district and rescued early Tuesday.

A local resident spotted the turtle, which weighs about 100 kilogrammes, on the beach behind the Esso distillery plant at 4am and immediately called police and the Sawang Prateep Si Racha Foundation.

Officials from the foundation took the turtle in the back of a pickup truck to the Sri Racha Fishery Office where it will be rehabilitated before being released.

A local fisherman, identified only as Sayumphu, said he was fishing at the beach and spotted the turtle motionless on the beach so he called police and the foundation.

The turtle had no sign of injuries but officials believe it is suffering from certain ailments.
