An extremely tame King Cobra called "Jan Jao" was amusing Thai netizens after pictures were posted online.

Apparently the huge serpent is a pet and was being taken to shed it's skin in the area of Kaeng Krachan on the way to the south of Thailand.

The snake's owner said that Jan Jao follows orders and dutifully stays in the back of his pick-up when out and about.

He will even give you a friendly peck on the cheek if you dare.

Thais loved the story but didn't miss a trick when it comes to the upcoming lottery draw - Sanook said that netizens were betting on the numbers of the pick-up coming up.

That is one really good anti theft device.. I would not get near that car in a million years. Not that I am a car thief but who in his right mind would get close

I once stood on one of those.  It must have been that long and I was fortunate to find the middle rather than the end with teeth.  It took several beers and a few fags for my heart rate to return to normal; even though I don't smoke!

Owner speaks with forked tongue then ..

My Siberian tiger is happy to sit on the front seat when I drive around town- but the constant wet licks I get on my ear is a bit hard to take, especially when he is excited.

Venom glands removed?

And when this wild and not at all tame animal finally bites someone, it'll suddenly go from "my pet" to "a random snake than sneaked onto my truck". Just like all the crazy soi dogs people feed outside their houses and then suddenly aren't associated with at all.

Might be tame ,until it has an off day, then that could be the owners

last day.

Is that all if it had been me it would take several trips to the toilet to clean my underwear.

What could possible go wrong with this.

It reminds me when I stayed with a mate in Australia (the land who gets stocked sorry had to) I was told it was illegal to run over snakes in case they ended up inside the car with you.

i hear you!

As an emergency room Dr. said in Phionex AZ. most of the snake bites I see are drunk, lots of tattoos and usually beards. This guy doesn't meet the qualifications but he is not all their.

King Cobra as a pet ? What's the chap's next moove ? A fully loaded and operational nuke land-to-air missile in his garden as decoration ?

I keep snakes for pets

I once had a car stolen with one in the glove compartment, never saw the car or the snake again

I'd always believed that snakes become irritable and shouldn't be handled when they are shedding their skin (not that I'd want to handle one anyway).

The king cobra is pretty docile which is why it is used in various performances. Try doing the same with an Aussie 7 foot brown snake.

With one of those in the back you're pretty much safe from all the nutters on the road !

I think they are most dangerous when the old skin covers their eyes. Blurs their vision , then they go into defence/attack mode.

I believe that snakes see in infrared, they see only sources of heat so the skin over their eyes shouldn't affect seeing. The guy is crazy IMO

Reminds me of the rich guy who parked his Bentley in Liverpool and some 12 year old scouser offered to look after it for ten quid.  Rich guy told him there was no need as he had left his Rottweiler in the car.

The kid replied, "oh, he puts out fires does he?'

Anybody remember Seigfreid & Roy tiger act in Las Vegas?

Wild animals are tame until they aren't.

Next up out of control pickup driven by a snake ends up imbedded in a 7/11 with the owner claiming the snake is so docile it had a micro sleep wai wai????

Beautifull!!!

I can't wait until I read the heading "snake owner attacked by his own snake".

Wild animals can't be tamed or supress their natural instincts.

This creature belongs out in the wild, not in the back of a pickup!

Agree had the pleasure of one of these in our garden. Leave them alone and they will leave you alone.
